BREAKING NEWS: Time to finish 2023 in style. Miami Hurricanes and ACC…
Yes, I took yesterday off from work to spend time with my family and get some rest. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and was able to engage in whatever it is that makes them happy.
Having said that, let’s talk about the Miami Hurricanes and ACC-related topics that are currently circling around my mind on this lovely Tuesday.
1) Please, can we win this bowl match? It’s something that very seldom occurs for the University of Miami. For those keeping score at home, the Miami Hurricanes’ last bowl victory came in the Russell Athletic Bowl versus West Virginia in 2016. They followed that victory up with a 10-win season in 2017, which has been their lone notable year in the previous two decades for the initiative. Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes would have a HUGE boost going into 2024 if they were to win a bowl game in addition to this recruiting class. So, this bowl match between Rutgers and New York is not to be taken lightly. Acquire this victory.
2) When it comes to hiring, dude. You guys, Mario has that dawg in him for the path. I really have no idea how he manages to do that. Yes, Mario will always have a lot of selling points because it gives many South Florida kids the chance to play at home in front of their families, but it hasn’t stopped great talent from moving away. Once more, Jeremiah Smith finally remained committed to Ohio State, but he traded Jordan and Armondo Blount and Jordan Lyle was enormous. An overwhelming amount of momentum and a unanimous top five class. Well done, Mario. Please focus on improving your skills in the other areas of coaching, such as time management, kneeling, and in-game coaching.
3) Cam Ward is still considering his options. Obtaining him would be a huge gamble for the Hurricanes in hopes of a victorious 2024 campaign. If Barry Jackson of the Herald is to be believed, Miami’s situation is improving in that regard. But when it comes to high school and portal college football recruiting, nothing happens until the player signs a contract. As 2023 draws to a close, my only hope is that Mario can put a definitive end to this and address the biggest unanswered question on the squad.
4) The lawsuit concerns what Florida State must do to escape the ACC’s grant of rights stranglehold over its member institutions, and it is between Florida State and the ACC. Let me tell you, I was furious with the choice to disqualify FSU from the postseason. The committee made an idiotic, incorrect, and unjustifiable choice. But it was a cheap shot, as FSU claimed in the opening paragraph of their lawsuit against the ACC, to blame the ACC for being left out. and not one that, in my judgment, is accurate either. I can understand FSU’s resentment, but right now they simply seem like pampered, whiny infants.
Having said that, this ought to be among the most fascinating court cases in college.
