Everton: Mason Holgate makes the decision to leave after approaching Stuttgart
Mason Holgate decides Everton’s departure after approaching the Goodison defender – Sky Sports journalist According to Dennis Bayer, Everton defender Mason Holgate has decided not to move to Stuttgart on deadline day.
The Sky Sport Germany journalist shared on his Twitter page on Thursday (January 1) that Bundesliga top team Stuttgart had made an approach the day before.
Holgate will not join the German club but is still linked with a move to Sheffield United before the 11pm deadline.
One to watch Holgate has struggled during his loan spell at Southampton this season and his career is now at a crossroads.
A move to St Mary’s would have the opposite effect, but he has only started four league games. On this basis, one can imagine that his chances of getting minutes at Goodison Park are numbered.
The 27-year-old would need to find a club where he can play regularly, but it remains to be seen whether Sheffield United are the right choice.
View Tweets With a move to Stuttgart now ruled out, it looks more like Bramall Lane or nothing for the defender.
Selling to a direct relegation rival would be a risk, but if Everton can secure a transfer fee for Holgate on deadline day then why not? However, if the Blades intend to push for a loan deal, that is absolutely out of the question.
