Sterling First Words: I’m Here And Determined To Continue Scoring Goals For My Team

In his first interview since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea, Raheem Sterling explained why he chose to join the Blues and outlined one simple but crucial goal for the coming seasons.

The 27-year-old has returned to London after spells at City and Liverpool, but he has yet to train as a Chelsea player in England. Instead, he joined us for pre-season in the United States, where he made his debut yesterday against Charlotte FC.

Sterling told our cameras about the new challenge that enticed him to sign.

‘Seeing as you’ve been in four or five finals in the last two years, your progress, you won the Champions League and are now looking to challenge for the Premier League, it was something that intrigued me when I was speaking with the club.

Raheem Sterling, our new forward, discusses his adjustment to life at Chelsea.

‘Seeing where you guys are going, it’s something I really bought into, and I just felt it was a place where I could really come into my own.’ I simply believe it is the ideal platform for me.

‘The club already has that winning mentality,’ he added, ‘but I think top managers like Thomas [Tuchel] do it every year and keep winning more and more trophies and building on the previous season.

It’s not a one-year win and then a year off; it’s win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win after win

The forward also discussed his initial discussions with our head coach as well as the reception he has received from the other players.

‘You can see how sincere he was and how much he wanted me here, and that was the clincher for me.’ I knew this was the place I wanted to be.

‘I know a few of the national team players.’ Mase, Chilly, to name a few, and I already have a good relationship with Callum. I already feel at ease, and I’m looking forward to putting in more effort and getting to know them better.

‘It’s been a fantastic first week; I’m really settling in and feel at ease.’

Thank you for your warm welcome, I say to the fans. For me, this is an exciting time.

I’m aware of how much more I have to offer. I still have a strong feeling that there is another step I need to take, and I believe this is the ideal platform for me to do so.

‘Hopefully, I’ll be able to do that in person at the Bridge for many years to come and just keep bagging goals in, simple as that!’
