Arsenal have added a fifth body to their squad, with Oleksandr Zinchenko‘s transfer to the Emirates Stadium all but confirmed.
The agreement, which will see Arsenal pay Manchester City £30 million, was reached quickly after talks began last week.
His versatility as a left-back and midfielder piqued the interest of Arsenal’s manager and the club’s hierarchy.
Everyone knows the Ukrainian is a talented player, and Kyle Walker of Manchester City is just one of many fans of the 25-year-old.
After the season ended, the England international told YouTuber Timbsy that Zinchenko was one of the three best technicians in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
Walker described Zinchenko as “incredible… incredible.” “He’s so good, so so good, two touches, head tennis.” But then you’re overlooking players like [Kevin] De Bruyne, Phil Foden, [Jack] Grealish, and [Joao] Cancelo.”
If you ask me, that’s a significant comment. Choosing the new Arsenal player over all the other players at City’s disposal says a lot.
Personally, I believe Zinchenko to Arsenal is an undervalued piece of business.
Just because he couldn’t start over Cancelo (one of the league’s best players) doesn’t mean he’s a bad player.
Zinchenko has been unlucky not to start more games at the Etihad Stadium since joining from Russian club FC Ufa for £1.6 million in 2016.
City have consistently had world-class players at every position on the field. As a result, failing to make the team’s starting eleven on a weekly basis is not something to be ashamed of.
Arsenal will almost certainly be able to give the Ukrainian international more playing time, which could help him reach his full potential.
Zinchenko, I believe, has been flying under the radar until now. He might just blow up in North London.
