David Alaba has been one of Real Madrid’s most successful acquisitions in recent years. He has taken command of the team’s defensive line and led from the front since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In just over a year, he has established himself as an indispensable member of the manager’s plans, with the ability to play both left-back and center-back.
The defender is currently on international duty with his country and is said to have suffered a setback during training.
According to Sky Sports Austria, Ralf Rangnick, the Austrian team’s manager, has confirmed that Alaba is suffering from a back problem. As a result, he will miss his country’s game against Croatia on Sunday.
However, his injury is not serious, according to MARCA, and he could be available for Real Madrid’s next game after the international break.
Alaba has started seven of the team’s eight games this season in defense. During that time, he has already scored one goal and assisted on two others.
His only goal of the season was a spectacular free-kick from distance that gave his team all three points against Almeria.
Needless to say, he will be an important part of Carlo Ancelotti‘s set up in the coming season, and the manager will work hard to get him back in shape when club football resumes. If fully fit, he is expected to start Real Madrid’s match against Osasuna in ten days.
