Real Madrid Boss Carlo Ancelotti Pickout In-Form Super Midfielder As Future Club Captain

Federico Valverde has had a fantastic start to the 2022/23 season at Real Madrid. The Uruguayan international has been in outstanding form this season and has emerged as one of Carlo Ancelotti’s most important players.

The 24-year-old has already scored four goals and set up two more in nine matches across all competitions, highlighting his importance to this Real Madrid squad.

And, according to MARCA, Real Madrid sees Valverde as a future club captain. The midfielder is said to have made a big impression not only with his performances, but also with his character, team passion, and leadership.

Los Blancos believe that the 24-year-old will be the team’s leader in the near future when the old guard of Karim Benzema, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Nacho, Lucas Vazquez, and Dani Carvajal retires.

Valverde has the club’s full trust, which is reflected in the long-term contract he signed last year, which keeps him at the Santiago Bernabeu until the summer of 2027.

The Uruguayan is also well-liked by the club’s supporters, as evidenced by the applause he received after scoring against RB Leipzig last month.

According to the report, Luka Modric has taken Valverde under his wing since the midfielder broke into the team, guiding him and assisting him in developing into a leader.

That quality was on display when Valverde applauded his teammate Marco Asensio after he came on as a substitute in the game against Leipzig.

Luis Suarez recently compared Valverde to former Liverpool captain and football icon Steven Gerrard. Ancelotti, the midfielder’s manager, echoed those sentiments, stating that the Uruguayan bears many similarities to Gerrard.

It has previously been reported that the 24-year-old aspires to be the team’s captain in the future. And it appears that the feeling is shared by those in the club.

If his current form continues, it may not be long before Valverde is given the captain’s armband for Real Madrid.
