According to Paddy Kenny, Curtis Jones may have passed up a golden opportunity to establish himself as a regular Liverpool starter.
The former Premier League goalkeeper told Football Insider exclusively that the 21-year-old midfielder will be “devastated” that injury has limited his availability this season.
He claims that the Anfield academy product has fallen behind fellow young guns Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho in the pecking order and will have to join the midfield queue when he returns.
Jones has a lower leg injury, according to Jurgen Klopp, after aggravating a tibia problem that kept him out at the start of the season.
He has not played since coming on as a late substitute in the Community Shield win over Manchester City on July 30, with his only Premier League appearance coming in the home win over Newcastle United.
“Curtis Jones‘ latest injury is a devastating new blow,” Kenny told Football Insider. “He’ll realize he could have squandered a golden opportunity to establish himself.”
