Arsenal’s long-term goal Marco Asensio is said to have fired his agent as he attempts to force his way out of Real Madrid this summer.
Despite winning three La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies during his time in Madrid, Asensio only started 21 games in both competitions last season.
Despite his limited game time under Carlo Ancelotti, the Spanish international has a respectable ten-goal and one-assist record this season, and there have been more doubts about his future at the club.
Madrid recognizes the lad’s talent, and he has been impressive at times, but he has not lived up to the club’s expectations, and with Madrid looking to freshen up the side, he is a player that they will reportedly be willing to let go.
But, with no transfer away from the club agreed upon, he is said to have ditched his representatives in order to complete a transfer before the deadline.
He is in the final year of his contract with the Bernabeu and appears increasingly unlikely to sign an extension after allegedly rejecting a previous offer.
According to El Larguero, the decision was made by the playmaker, who was previously managed by Horacio Gaggioli, in order to “find a way out” of Madrid.
AC Milan are thought to have contacted Jorge Mendes, who could be dealing with Asensio’s potential transfer, but Arsenal are also keeping a close eye on things.
There is no doubt that more money will be spent during the transfer window.
The Gunners have always admired Asensio and are hoping to finally swoop in and offer him a deal.
He has enormous potential and, with the right manager, he could blossom into a world-class midfielder – and for the money being discussed, it could be a real bargain transfer for the club.
