The ‘true view’ of Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag on Casemiro has emerged following ‘disrespectful’ claims that Casemiro has yet to start a Premier League match for Manchester United since completing his £70 million move from Real Madrid.
According to reports, Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag is a fan of Casemiro and pushed to sign him over Adrien Rabiot before learning he was available this summer. The Red Devils manager has faced harsh criticism for his use of United’s new £70 million man, who was named on the bench for the 6-3 Manchester derby defeat to Manchester City.
Since joining United, Casemiro has only appeared in one game, a 1-0 Europa League defeat to Real Sociedad.
Since joining, he has been named to the bench for all four of United’s Premier League matches, playing a total of 82 minutes.
According to The Telegraph, Ten Hag is set to give the defensive midfielder the nod this weekend when his side travels to Everton.
Furthermore, Ten Hag is said to have personally pushed for the signing of Casemiro during a tumultuous transfer window when United were considering a move for Juventus’ Rabiot.
It would appear that Ten Hag is still a big fan of Casemiro as he works to integrate his new signing into his United team.
Manchester City manager believes Erling Haaland is the best player in the world at his age.
Rio Ferdinand was among those to criticize Ten Hag’s handling of the player, calling his inclusion on the bench against City “disrespectful.”
When asked if Scott McTominay deserved his starting spot, Ferdinand replied, “You can’t say that.”
The geese [Casemiro] hasn’t been given a chance, a fair crack of the whip. He came in and played in a Europa League game against a team that no longer exists.
“He wasn’t given a start in the team when he was fit and ready, and he’s regressed in terms of fitness, so he’s now worse off than when he arrived.” When he transferred from that league to this league, he still had to catch up.
“I’m curious what effect it’s having on someone like him.” Yes, he has the experience, but he must be thinking, ‘wow, I’m happy to be here at Man United, but I’m feeling a little bit disrespected here, given what I’ve done.'”
Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes have also been playing well in midfield, but both disappointed against Manchester City.
Eriksen was arguably to blame for both of City’s early goals, as he struggles to adjust to the defensive responsibilities of a deeper role.
Casemiro started both of Brazil’s World Cup warmup matches against Ghana and Tunisia, despite his lack of playing time at the club level.
In Qatar, he is expected to start for his country at the base of Tite’s midfield.
On Thursday, United will travel to Cyprus to face Neil Lennon’s Omonia in the Europa League group stages.
