This was supposed to be Madrid’s second league match of the season, scheduled for matchday 3, with matchday 1 already postponed due to a referee work stoppage over pay.
There is currently no word on a new date. This is unfortunate news, as the problems with matchday 1 have already caused fixture congestion — those games will be played on November 2nd (a Wednesday) in between matchdays 7 and 8.
The cancellation of Madrid’s game against Granadilla will almost certainly necessitate another midweek match. With the Copa de la Reina on the horizon, as well as the possibility of a Champions League group stage appearance, Las Blancas’ staff will need to be cautious and take extra precautions to keep everyone fit and well rested.
