Lazar Samardzic, a midfielder for Udinese, has confirmed that AC Milan attempted to sign him in the past and explained why he declined the offer.
Milan’s interest in signing the then-18-year-old was widely reported for several weeks during the summer of 2020. He was playing for Hertha Berlin at the time, where he had a contract until 2024, but he was looking for a new challenge after struggling for playing time in the German capital.
Samadi, on the other hand, signed a five-year contract with fellow Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in September 2020. After making his debut a month later, he struggled for playing time once more, appearing in only seven games for them before signing a five-year contract with Udinese in the summer of 2021.
Samardzic told La Gazzetta Dello Sport that he was in talks with both Milan and Barcelona, and his comments were relayed by our colleagues at SempreMilan.it.
“We traveled to Milan with our entire family.” We spoke with Paolo Maldini, but I didn’t feel like experiencing life in a big city at the time. Instead, Barcelona came to my house. Along with Patrick Kluivert. But I chose Leipzig because it was only an hour away. And it was a wise decision,” he said.
