Darwin Nunez admitted to feeling pressure and nervousness after joining Liverpool but credited Mo Salah with making him feel at ease in his new surroundings.
The Uruguayan arrived in the summer with the weight of outside expectations, thanks to a £64 million deal with an additional £21.3 million in add-ons.
Jurgen Klopp admitted the striker is “different from what we had before,” and when you factor in the language barrier and the time required to adjust, there is a lot to navigate.
After the win in Leicester, the 23-year-old spoke about how nervous he was at the start of pre-season, and he credited Salah for offering his assistance in a welcome conversation between the two.
“To be honest, I was extremely nervous the first few weeks, so much so that I missed even the simplest pass,” Nunez told Sports Center, as translated by a Twitter user.
Mohamed Salah of Liverpool celebrates scoring his team’s second goal of the game during the FA Community Shield match at the King Power Stadium in Leicester. The film will be released on July 30, 2022.
“It was extremely difficult to adjust to the team at first.” But as time passed, they made me feel more at ease, and I had a conversation with Salah that was extremely beneficial.
” Then there’s Luis Diaz, a newcomer here, with the Brazilians. It’s difficult to visit a big club like Liverpool and not feel pressured. “[Klopp] has talked a lot with me, he’s always pushing me forward and has given me the trust, and I aim to repay that trust on the pitch,” I said.
It’s refreshing honesty from Nunez, who received another confidence boost in the Community Shield and has the fans’ and teammates’ full support.

It’s a sad day for those who believe that Salah is selfish.
“You could see in his face, you could see in the faces of all his teammates how happy the boys are for him, and that’s a really good sign after that short period of time that he has been with us,” Klopp said of his goal against Manchester City.
It’s not uncommon for new signings to take some time to settle in, and Nunez, who won’t be expected to start at Fulham but has plenty to offer in the early stages of the season, will need to be patient.
