Raphael Varane impressive stats for France
Although Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud scored, Manchester United’s Raphael Varane put in a strong performance, playing the entire 90 minutes for Didier Deschamps’ side.
Varane had a good game and was crucial to his country’s success, as statistics show. He was solid at the back, making four clearances and contributing to their clean sheet.

Varane had a difficult task ahead of him, as he was tasked with limiting any chances that an in-form Marko Arnautovic might have going forward.
As a result, after failing to make an impact, Arnautovic was subbed off around the sixty-minute mark.
Varane’s pass accuracy was also impressive, with 59 passes completed at 92% accuracy.
Meanwhile, he completed 100% of his long balls as he pinpointed his teammates and launched them into an attack.
He had 73 touches and won all three aerial battles.

The meeting brought the United defender face to face with ex-boss Ralf Rangnick, who now manages Austria.
France needed the win because defeat would have meant relegation. They will play Denmark in the final game of Group A on Sunday.
Meanwhile, United will be hoping Varane remains fit and healthy after the international break, as he will almost certainly be called upon for the Manchester derby the following week.
