However, scientific scrutiny reveals that many of these claims lack strong evidence. While cold water immersion can produce short-term effects, such as temporarily reducing inflammation and providing a feeling of exhilaration due to adrenaline and endorphin release, experts argue that rigorous, quality studies are still lacking to support long-term health benefits.
Most research on CWI is limited by small sample sizes and lacks control groups, making it difficult to determine its true effectiveness compared to placebo effects or alternative recovery methods.
