South Yorkshire Police have closed off their investigation into a video that seemingly showed a spectator ‘nibbling a boy’s ear’ at the World Snooker Championship in Sheffield. The incident took place on April 25 while BBC pundit Stephen Hendry was speaking on camera alongside John Parrott and host Hazel Irvine, discussing David Gilbert’s last-16 match with Robert Milkins.
But during the live footage, an adult male appeared to lean over and whisper in the ear of a boy, before seemingly biting his ear as the youngster waved awkwardly on the camera.

The following day, a police statement read: “Yesterday, Thursday 25 April at 9:20pm, we received a call to inform us of a video circulating on social media of a man and a boy at the Winter Gardens in Sheffield. We are aware of the footage and officers will be reviewing the content.”
Referencing the mass amount of comments online, they added: “We would encourage the public not to speculate about the footage and the circumstances surrounding the content.”
