Allyson Felix is aware of how long overdue the current surge in interest in women’s sports has been.
Felix, the most decorated track and field athlete in history, having won 20 World Championship medals in addition to 11 Olympic medals. Throughout her career, Felix has been a dominant force in women’s athletics. She may now enjoy the thrill as a spectator because she will be retiring in 2022.
Felix is excited to play a new role at the summer’s Paris Games after competing in five Olympics since she was eighteen years old.
“Merely observing it from an alternative viewpoint,” Felix remarks. I feel like I’ve been so focused on doing my thing that I’ve never really had time to enjoy them. Thus,
I can’t wait to watch and cheer on other competitors as they compete.
The timing of the forthcoming Games is ideal for women’s sports in many ways. Felix has been a major force behind increasing interest in women’s sports since her debut, but she is aware of the significant difference between the present buzz and what it was like at the outset of her Olympic career in 2004.
Felix states, “It’s definitely very different.” “I think a lot of us have known for a long time how exciting women’s sports are and I love that this is happening right now, but it’s really nice to see some of the rest of the world taking notice of what’s happening.” I’m hoping it continues.

Felix may no longer be competing, but she is still committed to raising awareness of women’s athletics. Felix most recently collaborated with Cracker Jack to highlight remarkable female athletes competing in the Summer Olympics.
Five female athletes, including wheelchair basketball player Lindsey Zurbrugg, water polo player Ashleigh Johnson, para track and field athlete Noelle Lambert, boxer Jennifer Lozano, and wrestler Kennedy Blades, are being led by Felix as they compete in Paris as part of the “Cracker Jill Spotlight Squad.” Fans who feature these athletes on social media can be entered to win a $500 cash reward and have Cracker Jack donate $10,000 in their honor to a qualifying non-profit organization.
