Tottenham dealt blow as target holds out for move to league champions – The Spurs Web – Tottenham Hotspur Football News
Rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Albert Gudmundsson is prepared to be patient and wait for an approach from Inter Milan, according to today’s print edition of Il Corriere dello Sport.
Albert Gudmundsson wants to join Inter Milan
The Genoa midfielder has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for some time but is keen to join the Serie A champions.
Gudmundsson was absent from the Iceland team which caused an upset last week when they beat England 1-0 at Wembley as part of the Three Lions preparations for Euro 2024 due to an ongoing legal case.
The 26-year-old was the fifth top-scorer in Serie A last season with 14 goals for Genoa helping his side to finish in eleventh place in the table.
Il Corriere dello Sport claim that some Premier League clubs have already targeted a move for Gudmundsson, with Tottenham having lodged an enquiry over his availability.
Tottenham and Genoa are already in talks this summer
Tottenham are reported to have an active dialogue with Genoa at present with the Italian side keen to sign Djed Spence on a permanent transfer.
The full-back spent the second half on loan at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium where he made a solid impression after a tough time at Leeds United at the start of the season.
With Gundmundsson having his heart set on a move to Inter, that would all but end any hopes of Tottenham looking to negotiate any form of a swap deal which includes Djed Spence heading the other way.
Ange Postecoglou always wants players who are fully committed to joining the club and is not interested in those who simply want to play in a particular competition such as the Champions League or if a move to N17 is not high up on their agenda.
With Gudmundsson having appeared to shown his hand, a move to Tottenham looks to be off the cards this summer.
