Julen Lopetegui is obviously desperate to bring one player in particular to West Ham United this summer.

The 57-year-old Hammers boss has a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer, if he is to take us on to the next level.

We have some fantastic players at West Ham right now, but it goes without saying that the new gaffer needs to bring in at least six or seven new signings this summer.

And one man in particular appears to be Lopetegui’s primary transfer target…

According to Spanish publication AS, Lopetegui is ‘in love’ with Aleix Garcia, and is trying to convince the Hammers board to make a bid in excess of £13 million for the midfielder.

And now AS claim that Garcia has a straight choice between Xabi Alonso’s team and the Hammers.

The Girona star would be an incredible signing for West Ham. He is a superb deep-lying midfielder and would form a rock-solid partnership with Alvarez in the heart of Lopetegui’s engine room.

The Spaniard would help the Hammers improve our play in transition due to his excellent passing ability, composure in possession and super impressive vision.

However, it remains to see whether or not Julen Lopetegui is able to bring him to West Ham this summer. If he’s not, it won’t be through the lack of trying.
