Kenny remarked, “I was on cocaine for 25 years and I was drinking for 25 years.” “I am speaking without stopping at all. I’m shocked that I’m still here. I had just woken up when I went on a two-day bender, slept for two days, had a Chinese takeaway, and then resumed my behavior.
Billy Kenny Sr., Kenny’s father, was an Everton football player in the 1970s. Looking back on his current difficulties, Kenny says his biggest regret is the suffering he inflicted on his parents, as his dad was often embarrassed to leave the house.
“I was off my face, so the worst part for me was putting my parents through it,” he remarked. I cringe now when I consider what I’ve done to my parents. I was all f***ing selfish when it came to alcohol and drugs. My greatest regret is that, and it never goes away.
With the death of his mother Bella, Kenny was able to clean up his act at last. Now that he is clean, Kenny is sharing his story in the hopes that it may inspire young football players to avoid the same mistakes he did. He is also permitting it to be used as a theatrical production at Liverpool’s Royal Court Theatre.
I couldn’t have done it on my own, so my mother must have given me the strength. Sitting here, I couldn’t tell you how I did it,” he remarked. “Life is amazing right now, but I do have horrible days too, where I have to work hard to stay sober and sane. It’s wonderful that I’m sober.

Nicoline Sørensen has told the Everton Football Club that she plans to retire from professional football by the end of 2023, as the Club can confirm.
The Denmark international, who came to the Blues from Brondby in July 2020, will be leaving the Club next month in order to pursue other interests.
She did, however, recently inform us of her intention to retire from professional football, and we have reluctantly decided to terminate her contract after giving it much thought.
“Until our match against Manchester City on December 17, she will continue to be a member of the Women’s Senior Team roster.
“I would like to wish Nicoline the very best for the future on behalf of everyone at Everton, regardless of her next steps.”
Sørensen made an instant impression upon joining Everton from Brondby, appearing in all 22 of the Club’s WSL games in 2020–21.
One of her four goals in her debut season came in the Toffees’ semi-final victory over Birmingham City. She also played a crucial part in the Blues’ run to the 2020 Women’s FA Cup final.
The 26-year-old Dane was sidelined for the duration of the season after suffering a major injury in a 3-1 victory over Birmingham City in September 2021.
But following a protracted recuperation time, Sørensen made his competitive football comeback against Arsenal in December 2022. He excelled in the second half of that campaign, dishing out several crucial assists and goals to help the Blues finish in the top six.
In addition to representing Denmark in the 2017 European Championship in Holland and the 2023 World Cup in Australia, the Everton attacker won two league titles in her own country.
