Alasdair Gold has claimed that Brennan Johnson is a very popular figure behind the scenes at Tottenham Hotspur.
The 22-year-old is starting to find his feet at Spurs after a difficult opening few months at the club.
Johnson has netted three goals and registered four assists in his last 10 appearances for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Despite some early criticism from supporters over Johnson’s displays, Postecoglou has insisted he’s made huge improvements already this season.
The Welshman joined last summer as Spurs paid £47.5 million to land the winger from Nottingham Forest.
And it would appear that he has already made quite the impression behind the scenes at Hotspur Way.
Johnson already very popular at Tottenham
During an interview on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham podcast, Alasdair Gold discussed the opinions of Spurs supporters regarding Johnson’s early years in north London.
The journalist described him as “a very well-liked guy around the club, a very willing learner, and a very clever guy.”
“Very well-liked person behind the scenes who, as I’ve said previously, has a genuine belief in his potential.
“Brendan Johnson has everything it takes to be a true elite player; right now, we’re just seeing the very early version of him.”
One could argue that Johnson’s performance on Sunday was his best while wearing a Spurs shirt.
Despite the winger’s ability to contribute in the last third and ten goal involvements, supporters were frequently dissatisfied with his all-around performances.
On Sunday, though, the Wales international had a genuine desire to overcome his opponent and gave Villa some trouble down the left-hand side.
Additionally, he had excellent chemistry with Destiny Udogie and was much more at ease using the left side of the field.
