Tottenham secured the promising young forward Alejo Veliz in the summer, signing him from Rosario Central on a six-year deal for a reported fee of around €15 million.
Even though Veliz made eight appearances in the English Premier League this season, he only played for 42 minutes altogether.
The team decided to loan Veliz to Sevilla for the rest of the season in an effort to further his development.
The Argentine striker is excited to contribute in Sunday’s match between Sevilla and Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Before the match, in an interview with the news source AS (via Sport Witness), Veliz made vague remarks about his future.
Veliz remained unsure when asked if he would be staying at Sevilla after this season, saying, “I don’t know what will happen.” Time will tell if I stay or not. First and foremost, Sevilla and their supporters should be pleased with me as I’m thrilled to be here and I anticipate a lot of positive things happening.
Bryan Gil, a former Tottenham winger who also joined Sevilla on loan last winter, took a similar route to Veliz’s loan move.
Veliz has the chance to have a big effect at Sevilla because of his unquestionable talent and promise.
It will be interesting to see if he decides to move permanently away from Spurs or returns to try to establish himself in the first team.
