Tottenham Hotspur are not giving up their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher and would be willing to pay for him.

Gallagher was linked with a move to Tottenham throughout the January transfer window but in the end, remained at Chelsea.

He has since starred for the Blues and scored two big goals a week or so ago in a crucial win at Crystal Palace. Mauricio Pochettino is super-keen on keeping hold of the England midfielder but with no new contract signed, things are getting tetchy.

And according to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham would be willing to pay around £35m for Gallagher, with his value apparently dropping.

Writing for GiveMeSport, Jones has said that Spurs would be ready to pay for Gallagher.

“His value is dropping. You could say his realistic value in the market is around £30million or £35million at the moment, and I think Tottenham would be willing to pay that. They weren’t willing to go up to £50million in January. That’s why nothing ever came about, and I think that will remain the case. It’s an interesting one, but Tottenham definitely do hold a level of interest. They are just being a bit tentative at the moment about when they actually make their move,” Jones said.

This one went on and on in January and at one point it looked like Spurs were going to get their man.

As we know, Gallagher stayed put and he has made no big fuss about leaving, simply getting on with his job at Chelsea and playing well in recent weeks.

However, without a new contract signed, the talk of a move to Tottenham will continue to rumble on you feel and if we are the same stage come the summer, a transfer might well happen.

Chelsea fans would surely be fuming if the club sell Gallagher to a rival and even more so if it’s for a modest fee of around £35m.

Gallagher’s arrival at Tottenham would surely signal the end of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Dane was linked with a move away in the winter but remained at the club.
