Jeff Stelling argues with West Ham United fan live on talkSPORT in David Moyes verdict

Jeff Stelling has argued with West Ham Fan TV host Nicky Hawkins live on talkSPORT as David Moyes’ position at the club continues to be questioned following the recent run of poor results.

Stelling is adamant that Moyes is still the man to take the Hammers forward, as they remain in the top half of the Premier League and in the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Hawkins, however, debated that the style of play is simply not good enough at the London Stadium, and there is no reason they couldn’t play attractive football while maintaining their success.

Hawkins appeared live on talkSPORT [19 February, 07:40] as he shared with Stelling that the side had dropped from sixth to ninth in the Premier League, as the legendary broadcaster reacted: “What a catastrophe. You’re a West Ham fan, where do you want to be?

“What would you rather have? Would you rather have your side playing free-flowing, fluid football and struggling for survival in the Premier League, or be where you are now: top half of the table, still in Europe, you’re European winners.”

Hawkins then questioned: “Why does it have to be exclusive? Why do we have to sacrifice free-flowing football but slip down the table?” To which Stelling had no answer before the conversation moved on.

Will David Moyes be sacked by West Ham United?

Hammers fans have been frustrated with the way their team has performed this season, and given the fact they are now without a win in 2024, and without so much as a single goal in their last three games, shipping 11 goals in that time, their frustrations are reasonable.

It was widely reported that the board had delayed the offer of a new contract for Moyes as a result of their recent run of form, with potential fan backlash mooted as another possible reason for the delay.

If this run of form continues, it will only add more fuel to the fire concerning the Moyes out section of the Hammers crowd, but the style of football appears to be the biggest issue regardless of the results the boss has achieved.

It has been said that Moyes would be given a run of what can be considered more favourable games in an attempt to save his job, but the defeat to Forest got that run off to the worst possible start for his future.
