West Ham United: David Moyes ‘proof’ detailed as London Stadium exit talk reaches new heights
Journalist Neil Moxley believes winning the Europa League and finishing seventh in the Premier League is proof that David Moyes deserves to stay on as West Ham manager.
The pressure on Moyes is building after Saturday’s (17 February) 2-0 loss at Nottingham Forest made it eight games without a win in all competitions this calendar year.
West Ham were thrashed 6-0 at home to Arsenal prior to the loss at City Ground, but Moxley is adamant over Moyes’ future as West Ham boss.
“David Moyes’s position at West Ham should not be questioned following an awful day at the office last week against Arsenal,” he said in his Sunday People column [18 February, pages 52 & 53].
“Two finishes of seventh and a trophy plonked in a dusty sideboard is proof that the Scot knows what he is doing, regardless of the noise.”

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on Moyes, and nobody is wrong. If you’re in the camp that wants Moyes gone, there is little you can do to persuade those who want him to stay to change their opinion, and vice-versa.
Ultimately, though, the longer this terrible run of form goes on, the more likely supporters are to move into the ‘Moyes Out’ camp.
Sliding down the Premier League is one thing, but exiting the Europa League when the last-16 stage begins next month is another.

It may well be that Moyes’ future now comes down to how the Hammers perform on the continent over the coming weeks.
Winning the Europa Conference League last season certainly gives Moyes some money in the bank, as it were, but those funds will not last forever.
United fans must be careful what they wish for, but at the same time there is nothing wrong with being ambitious and just hoping the grass is greener with a new manager at the helm.
