West Ham United chief Tim Steidten wants to replace David Moyes with Thomas Tuchel if he leaves the club this summer, according to HITC.
Writing on their website (16 February), the news outlet report that the Hammers remain unconvinced about the future of their current boss with his contract due to expire in the summer.
And Steidten is hopeful he will be given the chance to pick the next manager, and is confident he can convince Champions League winner Tuchel to return to London should he be sacked by Bayern Munich as expected.
“HITC understands that West Ham United could offer Thomas Tuchel a route back to the Premier League with technical director Tim Steidten hoping he is given the chance to pick the club’s next manager,” they wrote.
“HITC understands that Steidten, though, has big plans for West Ham and if given the chance to help bring in a new boss – he is confident he can attract a big name to West London.
“And HITC can reveal that one of those in his sights could be current Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel.”
Tuchel would be amazing at West Ham United
This is the type of ambition that West Ham fans want to see from the club, and if Steidten is confident to get it done then it’s definitely because he’s had good noise.
Tuchel has struggled at Bayern Munich this season and they look set to lose out on the Bundesliga title for the first time in a decade, while they also lost the first leg of their Champions League knockout tie with Lazio.
That has led to speculation that he could be sacked in the summer, if not before, and that would give the Irons the perfect candidate to step in for Moyes and really take the team to the next level.
David Moyes has found himself under increasing pressure at West Ham United.
Moyes has taken the club as far as he can and the summer seems like the perfect moment for the two parties to go their separate ways, and Tuchel would be a huge upgrade.
It would surely be difficult to convince him though considering he is used to challenging for titles and having big budgets, but this would be a great challenge and an opportunity to prove himself again in England. We can dream.
