Cornet made just three Premier League appearances for the East London club and his impact was virtually non-existent compared to that he produced for Burnley.
Considering Cornet was deployed more defensively throughout his career, he seemed perfectly suited to Moyes’ hardworking and disciplined style of football, providing plenty of cover for his full-back.
Perhaps this is why West Ham did not actively push to move him and only considered whether they could sign a direct replacement.
Cornet mix of goalscoring, athleticism and experience in defensive positions shows he could yet prove to be a valuable player for West Ham.
But something has to happen between now and the end of the season, otherwise rumors of a move will certainly resurface during the summer transfer window.
